CROSSWORD PUZZLE is very effective in education.

I have been testing my crossword puzzle tools for a few months.
One school in SL used it for English lessons twice. And the lessons were success.
Drive-Through ELF

I am thinking there are 3 processes in using these tools.

(1) To make a puzzle
To do this, we used 'DRACY CROSSWORD making panel'. This process is very fun. I tried this with a few people. Some of them are not native speakers of English, nor am I. We searched words using dictionaries or surfing various websites.
And I used 'DRACY Clues data box' to search suitable words.

(2) To make clues
We talked about how clues should be. One of us suggested a possible clue, and we argued about that.
This was a very good lesson of composition for us.
When I made a puzzle by myself, I copied and pasted clues from the dictionary of the website. This helped me increase vocabulary much.

(3) To solve a puzzle
This is fun, too. Above all we can feel the sense of accomplishment.
'DRACY CROSSWORD PUZZLE 20*20' informs us that the puzzle is solved perfectly.

The operation to move the data which was made on 'DRACY CROSSWORD making panel' to 'DRACY CROSSWORD PUZZLE 20*20' is very easy.
If you use 'DRACY Clues data box', you can save the data in it and you can use them later to search suitable words.

I was able to study the same word three times through three processes.
Reading the example sentence of the word many times made me understand its usage in the context well.

There are DEMO tools in my shop in SL.
Please come to try them.
Dracy's Virtual Shop

[Instructions for DEMO]
[DRACY CROSSWORD PUZZLE 20*20]
(1) Touch one of green squares. The color will change to orange. And a clue will appear in the local chat or a dialog will appears when 2 ways (across or down) are possible.
(2) When the dialog appears, choose 'across' or 'down'.
(3) The person who touched the square can type the answer in the local chat.

[DRACY CROSSWORD making panel 20*20]
(1) Touch one of white squares.
(2) After the square changed to orange, type 'a*****' or 'd*****' in the local chat.
(Write a word instead of ***** as you like)

Example:
When you write 'abook' in local chat, 'book' will be written on the board for across.
When you write 'dtable' in local chat, 'table' will be written on the board for down.
A dialog will ask you,
'I will save this change. Are you sure?'
Please answer 'yes' or 'no' to it.

[DRACY Clues data box]
(1) Touch the main box and choose 'Suitable word'
The box will whisper,
(Please come near to the box, for it will WHISPER)

Please type like '0a','3a','a3','3a4','a3t','3a4t','a3t4','3a2t5','a3t4s','3/a','a/3','3a/4','3/a4',
'3/a/4','3/a4t','a3t/4','3a2t/5','3/a2t5','3/a4t/5','3.a','a.3','3.a4','3a.4','3.a4t',
'3a4t.2','3.a4t.3','3/a.4','3.a/4','3/a4t.3','3.a4t/3','5,2a','5,2a3','5,2a3t','5,2a/3',
'5,2a3,5','5,2a3t3','5,2a3t/3','5,2a3t3,5','3a2,5','3/a2,5','3/a2t3,5','2a3t3,5','a2,5','
a3t2,5'

This looks very complicated to you.
But you type only one of these.

Example:

2r2n3

This will search a word with the form of **r**n***
The box will WHISPER,
'surrender@to give up or abandon'

****************************************************
3a -----> Just 3 letters must be before 'a'.
3/a -----> At max 3 letters can be before 'a'.
3.a -----> At least 3 letters must be before 'a'.
5,2a -----> 2~5 letters can be before 'a'

Database in SL

I think 'DRACY Clues data box' is a database which I can easily handle in SL, if the data is not very huge.
I may not know the exact definition of database. But at least 'DRACY Clues data box' enables me to find necessary data by one click or simple input.
I have 779 data in it.
Data form is very simple. It is written in the notecard in the content of 'data box' and has only 2 fields now.

Example:
abide by@phrasal verb; (規則, 約束を)守る; to comply with; I'll ***** ** your decision. You must ***** ** your promise.

These data can be saved by using scripts depending on the kind of data.
The limit of the data number in one 'data box' depends on the length of one data.

'DRACY Clues data box' consists of one 'main box' (This should be root) and some 'data boxes'.
One with 9 data boxes worked very well.

When I linked more 9 data boxes to this, an error happened.
'DRACY Clues data box' failed to search one word.
However this error happened only once.
I tried the same operation some times, and this error didn't happen again.
Even after I added more 3 data boxes, 'DRACY Clues data box' worked well.

Of course I cannot perfectly rely on the result which 'DRACY Clues data box' returns.
But I think this is enough to create crossword puzzle games.
And I am sure this system will help me much when I save many kinds of data and try to make use of them in SL.

This method is used to show Japanese letters with the brainstorming tool, 'brainflowing'.
This function works very well.

*******************
brainflowing: created by Gloria Gomez Diago (gloriagdiagoGalicia avatar) and (Draceina Pinion avatar).

Languages to English

'Languages to English' is a tool very adequate to learn English in Second Life. The users can learn to translate sentences or words from some languages to English.
Owners must add the data to the tool.

Example:
(Traduce una frase en Español al Inglés
(y escríbela en el cuadrado.
Soy una muchacha.
I am a girl.
Juego al tenis.
I play tennis.

When the tool is ready, with data added by the owner, users will be asked to translate some phrases or words to English. They must write the answer in a square and this tool will say if the answer is right or wrong. Furthermore, this tool helps users to complete answers by giving a clue.
This tool can be used to learn English by oneself.
This can be used by plural accounts, too.
'Languages to English' needs just two prims to be used and it works with 2.0 version of Second Life.
